Dr. Victor Adoji, a former senatorial candidate in the 2023 general election, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State.
Adoji’s resignation was confirmed in a letter dated January 27, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Okula Aloma Ward, Suleiman Unekwu Bala.
Expressing his gratitude, Adoji stated, “I must wholeheartedly express deep-seated gratitude for the cooperation and camaraderie I enjoyed over the years, which culminated in my becoming the Kogi-East Senatorial candidate for the 2023 election.”
He described his time in the party as an opportunity to contribute to democracy by strengthening grassroots politics, encouraging collaboration, and fostering partnerships under the PDP.
Addressing concerns over party dynamics, Adoji noted, “For the record, I have seen and heard exchanges around how some things should have been done better, what should have been done, when they should have been done, how they should have been done, and where they should have been done.”
Despite his resignation, he affirmed his commitment to justice and collective leadership, stating, “Let me restate, for the avoidance of doubt, that my discretion towards justice and shared leadership oriented around our collective communion will not abate, regardless.”
Citing factional divisions within the party, Adoji explained that the growing alliances and internal conflicts had influenced his decision to leave.
“Subsequently, in the face of the absorbency from the aforesaid, inter alia, I have reached the inevitable decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.”
He concluded by wishing the party success and expressing hope that his relationships within the PDP would continue beyond politics.
“While wishing you good success, it is my sincere hope and prayer that our rapport, regard, and reverence continue to grow, even beyond the momentary,” he said.
