The families of the late Brigadier General George T. Kurubo of Grand Bonny Kingdom, Rivers State, and the late Eze Sir Daniel Okereke of Okpala, Ngor Okpala Autonomous Community, Imo State, have announced the passing of Ambassador Nne Furo Kurubo.
She died on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in Lagos at the age of 84.
Ambassador Kurubo, a former Nigerian envoy to Trinidad and Tobago (1999–2003), dedicated her life to public service. She held several key positions in both the Rivers State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria, serving as a school teacher, principal, administrator, permanent secretary, and diplomat.
Throughout her career, she played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s public sector, earning a reputation for her dedication, leadership, and integrity. Her contributions inspired many and left a lasting impact on national development.
A devout Christian, Ambassador Kurubo remained committed to her faith throughout her life. She is survived by her children, Colonel Boma Kurubo, Mr. Gogo Kurubo, Mrs. Kalanne Gigi Ojukwu, Dr. Tati Okereke, and Prof. Mrs. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, along with other beloved family members.
The family will announce funeral arrangements at a later date.
