The Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UNYF) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate allegations of corruption against the Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi.
Its President, Comrade Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem said the Forum had followed activities under the current NSCDC CG which includes “unprofessional conduct, contract/job racketeering, favouritism, administrative bribe and other forms of bad leadership.”
The Forum averred the administration of President Buhari has zero tolerance for all forms of corruption at any level of governance, but lamented, however, that “to our greatest surprise, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps is the corruption hub of Nigeria under the leadership of Mr Audi.
In less than a year of his headship, he has transferred many professional, patriotic, committed and brave commanders of the corps out of strategic position/commands and replaced them with his puppet, which lacks all the required professional qualities to occupy such sensitive positions.”
UNFY said: “With the current insecurity which ranges from banditry, cattle rustling and all other forms of criminality, the NSCDC is expected to support the armed forces, the police and other security outfits in tackling crimes.”
The forum said should Mr President fail to act now, it will not hesitate to carry out massive protests across the country. “If President Buhari refuses to act by sacking Ahmed Audi as the Commandant-General of NSCDC, we will embark on nationwide protest.
