Makurdi – The Forum of the Wives of Directors, General Services Administration in Benue had appealed to the state governor’s wife, Mrs Eunice Ortom to advocate for more women appointees in her husband’s administration.
The forum made the appeal during their courtesy call on Ortom at her residence in Makurdi on Saturday.
Speaking on behalf of the members, the Coordinator of the forum, Mrs Hembadon Kunde decried the few numbers of women in elective positions.
Kunde urged Ortom to ensure that more women were given appointments during her husband’s tenure.
She pledged the forum’s determination to rally round the governor’s wife to enable her succeed in her bid to improve the lives of Benue people.
Responding, Ortom promised to operate an open door policy to accommodate everyone irrespective of political of religious affiliations.
The governor’s wife assured the forum that women would be carried along in Ortom’s government, pointing out that the governor was gender friendly.
She disclosed that efforts were underway toward unveiling her pet project to the people of the state.
Ortom said that her programmes would impact positively on all citizens and solicited for support of all to succeed.
She urged the women to remain strong in prayers so that the present administration could realise its objectives.
