ABUJA – Alice Adewumi Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has granted scholarship to some brilliant indigent students of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State Polytechnics and selected secondary schools in Kwara.
Dr Rowland Adewumi, the President of the Foundation, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja.
He said that the move became necessary in order to give back to the society.
Adewumi said that the scholarship would last until the students graduated from their respective schools.
He said the foundation was committed to ameliorating the plight of indigent students in the area.
Adewumi said he was inspired by the need to contribute his quota to human development in undertaking the project.
He said the foundation would soon start the distribution of exercise books free of charge to best students in Kwara South Senatorial district.

He called on the state government to institute a scholarship fund for brilliant indigent students, adding that it would go a long way in reducing the rate of school drop out in the state.
Adewumi also called on government at all levels to prioritise education to reduce the rate of violence in the country.
Some of the beneficiary of the scholarship includes; Oyeniyi Johnson, a Civil Engineering student from University of Ilorin, Tubosun Adesina, Federal University Akure, Electrical Engineering student.
Others include; Oyenike Oyelade, University of Abuja, Micro Biology, three other student from polytechnics and Secondary schools in the state. (NAN)
