KAFIN-HAUSA (JIGAWA) – The MTN Foundation on Saturday donated food items and essential commodities to Kafin-Hausa Reformatory Centre in Jigawa.
Presenting the items in Kafin-Hausa on Saturday, the MTN Marketing Officer, Malam Umar Shehu, said the commodities were donated under MTN Orphanage Support Initiative.
Items donated were mattresses, pillows, food items, detergents, refrigerator, fans, among others.
Shehu explained that the centre was selected to participate in the foundation’s programmes in view of its contribution toward building a better future for the youths.
The marketing officer said that the foundation had also offered free treatment to people with eye problems in the state.
According to him, the foundation has initiated various programmes to support the communities as part of its corporate social responsibility.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Abdulwahab, commended the gesture, adding that it would improve the well being of the inmates.
The commissioner said that the centre was designed to rehabilitate delinquent juvenile and reform them into responsible members of the society.
Also speaking, the director of the centre, Auwalu Garba, said that 22 inmates were currently receiving intensive rehabilitation care. (NAN)
