Kaduna – The Triumphant Youth Foundation (TYF), a Kaduna-based NGO, on Wednesday said it has commenced free training for 2000 unemployed youths on Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Malam Ibrahim Yusuf, the General Coordinator of the foundation, made this known in Kaduna when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said the ICT training would ensure that youths get engaged to change their mindset and attitude towards education.
Yusuf said that getting the youths engaged would help in the fight against various vices threatening their future.
“We seek to have the mindset of our young ones changed to fight the society’s crippling vices like teenage pregnancy; drug abuse; examination failures and school dropout rate that are very prevalent in our society,“ Yusuf said.
He said the ICT training is in collaboration with Microsoft, who provided computers and experts for the training.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
According to him, the training would be for a year with the first batch of 75 youths presently undergoing the training for three weeks, after which they would be issued Microsoft certificates.
He said the foundation was giving the necessary guidance and support to youths in an attempt to curb social vices.
“It was the foundation’s decision to bring them to the point of believing that they too can be world changers.
‘’It is our conviction that the transformation in the thinking of our future leaders will inevitably lead to a positive transformation of our nation,’’ Yusuf said.
According to the coordinator, the foundation is collaborating with religious bodies, youth corps members and local government schools to engage youths for the training. (NAN)
