The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the recipients had successfully completed the NGO’s one month skill acquisition training programme in Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Foluke Ademokun, Director of AAAF, said that the gesture was part of the foundation’s policy of empowering the less-privileged in the society.
“We have the needy in the society and the widows are rising in number due to loss of their husbands.
“ Most of these women do not have people to cater for them and their children; that is the reason AAAF is bringing succour to them,’’ Ademokun said.
She called on the recipients to make judicious use of the money to become self-reliant and be able to assist others in the society.
Mrs Omobola Adeogo, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the organisation for the gesture and pledged to use the money given her to start the hat-making business which she was trained for.
NAN reports the trainees acquired skills in hat, bead and tie and dye making.
Exhibition of various items made by the trainees and former graduates of the foundation were also on display at the event, for people to buy.
The items that were displayed include belts, hats, beads and shoes, among others.
NAN reports that the AAAF said it would also stand as guarantors to enable the trainees to access bank loans to expand their businesses. (NAN)
