Lafia- A senior administrative officer with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN)-owned Precious FM station, Lafia, Miss Fatima Garga, on Monday slumped and died in her car.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the deceased slumped and died while processing her travel documents to enable her to perform this year’s pilgrimage to Israel.
Garga was among the people given slots by the Nasarawa State Government to perform this year’s Christian pilgrimage in Israel.
It was gathered that the deceased who drove herself looked hale and hearty before the incident.
An eyewitness who preferred anonymity said the late Garga parked her car and rested her head on the steering but the continued blaring of the horn drew the attention of the people nearby.
The witness said the sympathisers opened the car door and saw her head lying on the steering, explaining that when the people rushed her to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, she was confirmed dead.
The General Manager of the station, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, confirmed the incident and described her death as a monumental loss to the station.
He said the deceased returned to Lafia on Sunday after her one-month leave in preparation for the 2014 pilgrimage.
“Honestly, late Garga exchange pleasantries with most staff in the office more than ever before.
“I have never experienced such in my life. We have lost one among the dedicated staff in the station, but God knows better why He took her away. I pray to God to give her soul eternal rest.”
A colleague of the late Garga, Mr Salihu Alkali, said she was jovial throughout her stay in the office before going out.
“It is the most shocking day of my life. We just finished chatting and later I was called to be told of the unfortunate incident,’’ he said.
“She was waving to everyone on her way out not knowing that it was the last time we will see her,” he added. (NAN)
