JOS (Sundiata Post) – An Area Court in Jos on Friday, sentenced Nangwan Timzim and Bitrus Mavern, to one month imprisonment each for stealing a cell phone worth N160,000.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convicts after they pleaded guilty to the offence.

Bokkos, however, gave the convicts the option of N 20, 000 fine or one-month imprisonment each for theft.

He asked them to pay a compensation of N N80, 000 each or three months in default to the complainant.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo Jos police station, on Jan. 9, by Mr Jimnang Kuruap.

He said the complainant, said the accused persons, trespassed into his shop and stole his Techno Spark 30 worth N 160,000.

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the accused persons confessed to have committed the offence.

The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
