KADUNA – The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Kaduna on Wednesday said that 265 motorists were arraigned before the mobile court various for traffic offences.
The Sector Commander, Mr Francis Udoma, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the arraignments were conducted in August, September and October.
Udoma said that the motorists were arrested at Birnin Gwari, Zaria, Saminaka, Tafa and kafanchan.
He said that out of the offenders, 212 were convicted while 44 were discharged.
The sector commander said that two motorists were arraigned for possession of fake driver’s licence and number plate, while four others for possession of drugs.
Udoma said that the command was particularly checking reckless driving, wrong overtaking, speeding and overloading.
“We are bothered about reckless driving, especially when they are drunk or under the influence of drugs.
“We are partnering with the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to check these excesses on the highway,’’ he said.
He, therefore, urged motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations so as to avoid traffic offences, which the FRSC would not condone. (NAN)
