Abuja – Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), on Saturday personally arrested a truck driver for failure to use the proper chain to tow another truck.
Mr Bisi Kazeem, the Head of Sports in the commission disclosed this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abuja.

He said that the arrest took place along Oluyole area of Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Saturday.
Kazeem said that the corps marshal had ordered Oluyole unit of FRSC to take necessary action on the driver
“This comes barely a week after Oyeyemi handed instruction to his men to impound any truck driver that refuses to lash its container, as a result of the death of 11 students under similar circumstances.
“The corps marshal on his routine check along major corridors caught a DAF truck with registration number XA 946 JCC, driving by Mr Kehinde Ogunjide, improvising truck tow-chain with inferior materials while towing another truck.
“Such practice is dangerous as 11 students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, were recently killed as a result of failure of the truck operator to lash its container to the truck.
“As the lead agency on road safety management in the country, the corps marshal has ordered immediate seizure of dangerous trucks on the road to avoid any unforeseen circumstances,” he said.
NAN recalls that Oyeyemi gave the order on Wednesday, during a meeting with stakeholders in haulage transportation held in his office, in Abuja.
The meeting was held to find lasting solution to the spate of tanker and truck crashes across the country. (NAN)
