LAGOS – No fewer than 50 newly-promoted officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Zone II were on Wednesday decorated with their new ranks, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Mr Godwin Ogagaoghene, the Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of the zone, which comprises Lagos and Ogun, said the promotion would enhance productivity.
Ogagaoghene said that the newly-promoted officers were expected to put in their best to realise the mandates of the corps.
“The management of FRSC has graciously approved the promotion of 50 officers in the zone and they have been decorated today.
“This is as a result of their hard work and success during the promotion examinations.
“Those who have been decorated today promised that they will put in their best in the service of the corps.
“It will certainly enhance performance in great measures because promotion is a motivational tool,’’ he said.
The FRSC boss expressed optimism that the promotion would motivate the officers to put in more effort.
Mr Omaru Bamayi, one of the officers promoted from Superintendent Corps Commandant to Chief Route Commander, described his new rank as ‘an added responsibility’.
“Everyone promoted here is as a result of his input in the system. It has been hard work.
“For every added rank, it is an added responsibility and added challenges; we are to do more to be promoted to the next ranks,’’ Bamayi said.
Mr Ayodeji Oseni, another officer promoted to the same rank, said the feat was not attained on a platter of gold.
“It is not an easy thing; now that I have been decorated, the management should expect better performance.
“I believe I will live up to the commission’s expectations because, I will be more committed at my post to move this commission forward,’’ he said.
Oseni, who is one of the Heads at the Driver’s Licence Centre, said he would be more committed to the issuance of the new documents to applicants.
Also speaking, Mrs Edith Osas, who was also promoted, said she had prepared for more responsibilities that the new rank would bring.
“It has been hard work and I expect more challenges now and I will face them.
“The higher you go, the more jobs you carry. I will put in my best as more is expected from me,’’ she said.
The Ogun Sector Commander, Mr Adegoke Adetunji, advised the officers who were promoted to justify their promotion by putting their best into the service.
“They should know that promotion comes with responsibilities,’’ Adetunji said.
NAN reports that three officers were promoted from Assistant Corps Commanders to Deputy Corps Commanders and six were elevated from Chief Route Commanders to Assistant Corps Commanders.
Twenty officers moved from Superintendent Route Commander to Chief Route Commander; while seven officers were promoted from Route Commanders to Superintendent Route Commanders.
Fourteen officers were moved from Deputy Route Commanders to Route Commander.s (NAN)
