Kaltungo (Gombe State)- The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) mobile court in Kaltungo, Gombe State, on Thursday convicted 26 drivers for committing various traffic offences.
Mr Abayomi Omiyale, the Sector Commander, announced this while briefing newsmen during a special patrol by FRSC officials in Gombe State.
“The court sat today in Kaltungo, tried 29 offenders; 26 were convicted and three were discharged and acquitted,’’ he said.
He said 13 were convicted for not putting on seat belts, three for not wearing helmet, three for driving vehicle without number plate, two for over loading, five for driving without driver’s licence and two for dangerous driving.
He said that dangerous driving, over loading, wrong over-taking, over speeding, among others, could lead to fatal crashes.
“The FRSC is concentrating more on those offences that can lead to crashes so as to reduce the rate of crashes during this period and beyond,’’ he said.
He said the exercise would continue till the end of the special patrol and even beyond.
He commended the state Chief Judge, Hakila Heman, for approving and constituting three mobile courts across the state.
One of the drivers convicted, Malam Musa Bukar, said that he was convicted for not having driver’s licence and current vehicle’s particular.
Bukar, however, said that he paid N7, 000 fine and promised to update his particulars as at when due to avoid such challenges.
He advised all drivers to always update their particulars and other documents regularly. (NAN)
