Awka – The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission in Anambra, Mr Sunday Ajayi, has attributed the improvement in this year’s yuletide special patrol to the cooperation of motorists.
Ajayi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Wednesday that the exercise had been effective as there was free flow of traffic and no fatal crashes in the state.
“The special traffic control operations have been successful. We have just had two crashes which were not fatal; no lives were lost and the traffic had been free.
“Our discovery is that motorists are now more aware of the role of the commission. They are now better behaved and very cooperative and that is why we have achieved the level of success we have now,” he said.

Ajayi said the command was already strategising to ensure that the Niger Bridge remained free in view of the next wave of heavy traffic that will commence on Thursday because of the New Year.
He assured the people of the command’s presence at the Bridge Head and other flashpoints in Anambra, while calling for greater cooperation of all stakeholders in the road safety business. (NAN)
