Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been told that genuine reconciliation with lawmakers is the only way to avoid impeachment.
APC Chairman in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, stated that Fubara has shown no commitment to peace or political healing.
Okocha dismissed reports of Fubara’s possible defection to the APC, saying it wouldn’t shield him from accountability. “His sins cannot be forgiven because he came to our party,” Okocha said, adding that Fubara would have to follow due process if he wants to join the APC.
The condition for reconciliation comes after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency and suspended Fubara in March. Former Governor Nyesom Wike had also criticized Fubara for not making reconciliation efforts.
