Abuja (Sundiata Post) – As the nationwide protest starts today (Wednesday), angry Abuja protesters protesting the hike in petrol price have pulled down the gate of the National Assembly in Abuja
Before the incident, the protesters led by the leaders of the Organised Labour, Joe Ajaero of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Festus Osifo of the Trade Union Congress asked security operatives stationed at the legislative building to open the gates to allow the workers to express their displeasure.
Following the failure of the security officials to adhere, angry protesters pulled down the gates and thronged into the assembly complex to vent their anger.
The House of Representatives had last Thursday adjourned plenary to second week of September but the Senators at the time of the protest are still sitting over the screening and confirmation of ministerial nominees sent to them by President Bola Tinubu.
Sundiata Post gathered that the second batch of the list will reach the leadership of the Senate today (Wednesday).
