Fuel tanker accident: 3 killed in Zuba

ZUBA (FCT) – Three were killed and three others   Zuba, FCT, when a tanker driver lost control his vehicle, the Federal Safety Commission (), has said.

Mr Mutar Chowi, the commission, Chowi told the News Agency (NAN) Zuba that the accident took place at the Zuba flyover on Monday while the driver making a phone call.

The cautioned drivers desist from making calls while driving their vehicles.

An eyewitness who preferred anonymity, told NAN that he saw the driver making a call while driving.

“When the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle, caught fire and many vehicles were burnt beyond recognition,’’ he said.

According the eyewitness, nine vehicles were involved in the accident.

He also said that the tanker driver and two roadside mechanics were among the dead.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin-Giri, who visited the scene,  expressed sadness over the accident.

Jibrin-Giri advised residents, especially those operating along the roadside move 120 metres away from the mainroad, avoid such incidents.
