JOS – Member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency at the House of Representative, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, has said Fulani herdsmen are above the law.
Bagos lamented that the terror herdsmen are moving about freely with arms without any arrest or prosecution.
“There is killing everywhere. Terror herdsmen are above the law. They seems untouchable and seemingly protected. If their activities remain unchecked, another civil war may erupt or the Taliban Afghanistan experience may happen in Nigeria”, he said.
The federal legislator, who spoke in a statement on Sunday, was reacting to the killer Fulani herders who were caught transporting arms to Plateau State from Akwanga, Nasarawa State on Saturday, by the Joint Task Force of the Nigerian Police.
Sundiata Post recalls that a Fulani man by name Likita Abubakar when intercepted said he was in a gang of six who are now at large.
Bagos, however, called on the Plateau State Government to work with security agencies to fish out the remaining gang members as the lives of Plateau State citizens are more than ever before now in grave danger.
“What is happening is a clear evidence that war has been declared by terror herdsmen against the people of Plateau State”, he lamented.
Bagos called on all Plateau State people, especially youths to be united and ensure they are not taken unawares, adding that they should protect their communities by preventing any further attacks.
“It is very sad that in the past few weeks Plateau villages have suffered several attacks and hundreds of innocent souls lost, but this didn’t attract the necessary required attention, rather grazing routes are being reviewed instead of approval of private ranches.
“I call on the security agencies in Plateau State to take action like their colleagues in Nasarawa State to arrest the remaining five members of the gang who were on their way with loaded arms to Plateau for another round deadly of attacks”, Bagos said.
