ABUJA – A Fulani socio-cultural association, the Miyette Allah Kaural Hore, on Monday reaffirmed its resolve to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan as its sole candidate for the 2015 presidential election.
This was disclosed at the news conference by Alhaji Saleh Kubah, the National Secretary General of the association in Abuja.
The group is a unifying platform for all Fulani people in the country with the objective to protect the rights, socio economic, political interest and cultural preservation of the Fulanis.
According to Kubah, the group took the decision to endorse the president as their candidate for 2015, presidential election because of the love he has extended to Fulani pastoralist in the country.
He said that the group needed the president to continue in office beyond 2015 to enable him complete his policies in the agricultural sector.
Kubah noted that apart from favourable agricultural policies under the transformation agenda, particularly in animal husbandry, the president also appointed Fulani pastoralists in key positions in his administration.
He said that the president entrusted the PDP leadership in the hand of Alhaji Adamu Mu`azu, the party’s National Chairman, who “is one of their own’’ among others.
Kubah said that the association would mobilise its 23 million members to vote for the president in 2015 to ensure he was re-elected.
“Mr President has made a firm commitment to ensure that the Fulani pastoralists are provided with the environment to pursue their livelihood,” he said.
Kubah said that the group would embark on a massive mobilisation of their members to ensure that the president was re-elected in 2015.
According to him, the association will soon launch its Ruga-to-Ruga (Settlement-to-Settlement) campaign for the re-election of the president.
“Our association is of the strong belief that the agricultural policies under Mr President Transformation Agenda particularly in the animal husbandry is the main economic engagement of our members,’’ Kubah said. (NAN)
