LAFIA – The Sarkin Fulani (Fulani community leader) in Nasarawa State, Sen. Walid Jibrin, says the Fulanis are not insurgents, terrorists or mercenaries.
Jibrin said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lafia.
He said the Fulanis should not be linked to the three vices as they had always yearned for peace, unity and progress in the country.
Walid, who is also the Secretary, Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said the attribution by some Nigerians of some crisis and killings of innocent people by unknown persons to the Fulanis, was unfounded.
“Fulanis are not terrorists, militants or mercenaries as we have been living peacefully with other tribes in Nasarawa State and the country.
“ And so, I have not seen any reason to connect us to any killings in any part of the country.
“The Fulanis are not mercenaries, they are not the ones causing these problems. A Fulani herdsman is only concerned with his cows in the bush,” he said.(NAN)
