Badagry – Jan. 22, 2016 (NAN) A gatekeeper, Paul Adesina, 26, on Friday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued N130,000.
The accused, whose address was not disclosed in court, is facing a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 3, at about 2 a.m., at Ajara Topa area of Badagry.
Uko said the motorcycle belonged to one Ovi Avoseh.
“The complainant, Ovi Avoseh, had parked his motorcycle within his premises, after which he slept.
“The accused gained entry into the compound because the gate was not locked and he stole the motorcycle.
“He was, however, apprehended by vigilantes in the area,’’ the prosecutor said.
Uko said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and his counsel, Mr Abiodun Ogunnaike, pleaded with the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
The magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200, 000 and a surety in like sum.
Etti said that the surety must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till Feb. 26 for further hearing. (NAN)
