Lagos- Ayodele George has emerged the winner of the men’s Nearest Pin (hole 6) of the maiden 2014 Maritime Golf tournament at the Ikoyi Club.
George was rewarded for the effort with a steam iron.
The longest drive Potting Ladies (hole 1) was won by Charity Eke, who went home with a dinner set.
In the men’s Longest Drive (Hole 18) challenge, Muyiwa Jacob was declared the winner.
He was awarded a steam Iron, while in the Ladies category, Olunloyo Jumoke, with 34 points, went home with a makeup kit.

In the Men’s Guests Category, Tunde Oremule went home with a Hiewai Android phone, having notched up 37 points.
However, in the Special Guests Category, the Lady captain of the ikoyi Club, Ngozi Ngoka, with 43 points, was declared the winner.
In the Men’s Category 3, A.S.K. Makinde, with 42 points, went home with a UPS, while in category 2, Dele Ezeoba, a former Chief of Naval Staff, who won, went home with a golf bag.
In Category 1, the men’s winner was Tim Fischer, with 35 points. He also went home with a golf bag.
The competition which was teed off by Hassan Bello, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, ended with a gala dinner.
One of the winners, Ngoka, told NAN that her success in her category came as a surprise, because she had lost some points in some vital holes.
“It came as a pleasant surprise, because I missed some points in some holes, but I was able to make a comeback with other holes, which I’m sure gave me victory,’’ she noted.
Jean Anishere, the President of the Women International Trading Association (WINTA), also told NAN that the Maritime Golf tournament had come to stay, saying that another edition would hold before the end of the year.
“This won’t be a one off programme. Our sponsors have been fantastic and we intend to organise the 2015 edition before the year runs out, the players were fantastic. It was a good one,” she said.
