Abuja – The German Federal Criminal Police (GFCP) on Tuesday in Lagos commenced an eight-day training programme for operatives of law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
Mr Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), made this known in a statement given to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
The statement said the training was on the Principles and Methods of Police Evaluation.
“It is also to strengthen the capacity of the operatives drawn from the EFCC and the Department of State Services.’’
According to the statement, other operatives benefiting from the training are from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Mr Iliyasu Kwarbai, Head of Operations, Lagos Zonal Office of EFCC, who declared the programme open, commended the German Government for the continuous support to law enforcement agencies in Nigeria
He called on the trainees to take advantage of the programme and ensure that lessons learnt were put into practice.
Mr Otto Simon, the International Coordinator of GFCP, said the federal investigative agency of Germany coordinates operations of the Federal and State Police Forces.
He said the agency also investigates cases of internationally organised crimes, terrorism, and related cases of national security.

Otto said the training was meant to build the capacity of participants on ways to handle information as police officers.
“It would also educate participants on ways to use techniques and instruments to understand the complex situation of police information.’’ (NAN)
