Ghana quietly reintroduces fuel subsidies: oil importers

ACCRA –  Ghana’s government quietly reintroduced fuel subsidies April, and has spent about $85 million since then extra payments, head of Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) told Reuters on Friday.

subsidies were scrapped early last year a bid budget deficit and restore macro- stability Ghana.

The reintroduction has not been publicly announced and government officials were unavailable for comment.

The chamber’s , Senyo Hosi, also told Reuters that Ghana’s reserves of oil for domestic consumption normally stand at around four weeks.

The reserves have fallen just one week, because are refusing extend credit importers due outstanding government payments. (Reuters/NAN)
