Glo NPL: Title contenders Sunshine Stars to clash with Wikki Tourist week 26 game.

Lagos – League title contenders the Sunshine Stars FC of Akure would face Wikki Tourist of Bauchi in a week 26 game of 2014/15 Globacom Premier League at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

The week 26 games would expectedly would hold on Aug. 30 at the various match venues accross the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports over the last seven encounters between Sunshines and Tourist, the Akure-based team had won in four games while Wikki Tourist won in two games and one drawn game.

In their last seven encounters, Sunshine picked up 13 points from a possible 21 points while Wikki picked up seven points in previous head to head.

Kennedy Boboye, coach of Sunshine Stars would be looking up to his team overtaking the league leaders, Enyimba of Aba and Wikki would be looking to cut Sunshine Stars’ lead to just a point.

“Our target is to win the league this season, we also need to improve on our away record in order to achieve this; we are in a good position in the league but we can do better.

“I expect a better performance against Wikki this weekend,’’ Boboye said.

Abdul Maikaba, Technical Adviser of Sunshine Stars would expect his player to be in the best shape and judging from his 100 per cent home record this season it could be a difficult game.

“It would be a very tough game but I believe in my players to overcome them and besides, we have the home advantage,’’ Maikaba added.

Wikki have played 25 games this season, won 11, drawn eight and lost six. However, they have not lost a single game at home this season they are just four points behind Sunshine Stars in fourth position with 41 points.

On the other hand, Sunshine Stars have played 25 matches, won 14, have four draws and seven losses, they also have a perfect home run of 13 wins out of 13 games.

But they have won only one away game out of 12 this season, they are in second position on the league table with 46 points from 25 games, two points away from the top spot.

Boboye said his team has prepared well for the clash against Wikki and hoped to pick a point at least from the game.

Wole Adeniyi, a Sunshine Stars supporter said he would be happy for the team if they could secure a win in Bauchi over Wikki..

“The match will be difficult for the team but I believe the least Sunshine Stars will secure at least a draw, but will be happy if it ends with an outright win,’’ Adeniyi said.

Other week 26 games include; Sharks of Port Harcourt which would welcome league leaders Enyimba of Aba, Bayelsa United visits Ifeanyi Uba in Nnewi while Giwa hosts Lobi Stars in Jos.

Akwa United would travel to Port Harcourt to face Dolphins, El Kanemi Warriors would host Enugu Rangers while Heartland would host Warri Wolves at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

Ogunbote’s Shooting Stars host Abia Warriors in Ibadan, Kwara United travels to Nasarawa United while defending champions Kano Pillars would be up against Taraba.

The various matches commences at 4pm on Sunday. (NAN)
