MAKURDI – The Benue State Government on told displaced Kwande  people currently camping Makurdi to return to their communities and tend to their farms.

Mr Peter Torjune, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of and Cooperatives made the call Makurdi.

Torjune spoke when the Chairman of PDP Kwande Local Government Area, Mr Terkula Azua-Ikyur, led other officials on a visit to the camps.

He said if they don’t go now “in the present cropping season, there would be acute food shortage in the next harvesting period.’’

Torjune advised them to respect the initiative of Gov. Gabriel Suswam.

He also charged them not to contemplate launching a reprisal on the communities in Taraba, following speculations that were harboured there.

Torjune, therefore, enjoined people to be very supportive of Suswam’ administration in order to continue to deliver democratic dividends. (NAN)
