Lagos – The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.- Gen. Isidore Edet, on Tuesday appealed for continuous cooperation of residents of Badagry with the military in the area.
The GOC made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Akran of Badagry, De Wheno Aholu Menu ToyI 1 in his palace.
A statement signed by the 81 Division spokesperson, Lt.- Col. Kingsley Samuel, said that Edet also solicited the support of the Badagry monarch in ensuring good neighbourliness between the residents and soldiers.
It said that Edet congratulated Oba Akran on his 39th anniversary on the throne and prayed for long life and peace in his domain during his reign.
The statement said that Edet thanked the Badagry monarch for the warm reception accorded him and his team at the palace.
It also quoted the monarch as thanking the GOC for the visit and expressing appreciation for the support received from the army formation in Badagry.
According to the statement, Akran prayed for Edet and wished him a successful tenure.
The statement said that the GOC was accompanied by Commander, 81 Division Intelligence Command, Brig.-Gen. Emeka Onumajuru, Commanding Officer, 243 Recce Battalion, Badagry, Col. A. Garba and Commander, 81 Division Provost Group, Col. Abubakar Garba.
”Others included Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lt.- Col. Kingsley Samuel and the Commanding Officer, 15 Field Engineer Regiment, Lt.- Col. Chibuzor Ememchukwu,” the statement said. (NAN)
