Enugu – Maj.-Gen. Adamu Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Nigerian Army, on Thursday inaugurated some projects built by the military at the 103 Battalion, Awkunawnaw, Enugu.
The projects inaugurated included the newly constructed Out-Patient Department, Officers’ Ward, Tuberculosis Laboratory and the renovated National Health Insurance Scheme Desk Office.
The GOC also inaugurated the newly built Training Shade for troops to consolidate on training and re-training for the benefit of the nation.
In his remarks at the occasion, Abubakar commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, for his support which, he said, facilitated the immediate and successful completion of the projects.
He also commended the Commanding Officer (Rear), Maj. Maxwell Soro-Maji, his officers and soldiers for the good work and assured them of his support at all times.
The GOC also used the opportunity to inspect the ongoing Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) kindergarten school project, where he donated N1 million in support of the project.
Abubakar was further conducted round an old wooden block that served as Ante-natal and Immunisation Ward.
He expressed dismay at the condition of the war and directed for its immediate demolition and the construction of a new ward.
In addition, he donated N1 million to kick-start the new project.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Commanders 54 signal Brigade and 82 Division, Supply and Transport, Brig.-Gen. O.W. Ali and E.A. Anaryu, attended the event.
Ithers present were the Commander, Military Intelligence Brigade, Col. K. Nwoko, and members of the NAOWA, Enugu State Chapter. (NAN)
