Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, has donated an undisclosed amount of money to complete a skill acquisition center in its host community of Jebu Bassa in Rukuba Local Government Area.
Jebbu Bassa plays host to the 3 Division Nigerian Army, our correspondent reports.
However, the skill acquisition center if completed will engage youths in developing their entrepreneurial skills rather than engaging in criminal activities and consuming Illicit drugs leading to cultism, the GOC who also doubles as the Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), said.
“By investing in the development of skills, youths will have enhanced prospects for a better future and will be less susceptible to engaging in criminal activities or falling prey to drug addiction”, a statement signed by the Spokesman of the 3 Division, Lt.-Col. Ishaku Takwa said.
Takwa said Gen. Abubakar expressed his deep appreciation for the host communities’ continuous support and cooperation with the Nigerian Army.
“l acknowledged the pivotal role played by the communities in providing a safe and secure environment for the personnel and their families residing in the barracks.
“Empowering the host communities was a way of reciprocating their goodwill and fostering a symbiotic relationship.
“I urge other stakeholders, including local government bodies, philanthropic organizations, and private sector entities, to join hands in supporting initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and uplifting the host communities”, the statement reads.
Responding to the President Bachea Development Association, Mr Jacob Agal Adingbu appreciated the GOC for his quick response to the request of the community.
He pledged to judiciously use the resources donated for its purpose.
The president further reiterated the commitment of the Bassa community to a peaceful and secured environment devoid of social vices.
