A coalition of Peace Observers in Plateau State during their quarterly report to assess the restive situation in the State, have observed that the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division Nigerian Army, and the Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, since assumption of Office has been instrumental to the stability of peace being enjoyed in Plateau. https://sundiatapost.com/opsh-boss-goc-in-plateau-taking-steps-to-restore-lasting-peace/
Chairman of the Group, Istifanus Pam on Tuesday in Jos, during a section with our correspondent said the crisis hitherto being witnessed in the State before the arrival of the Gen. Abubakar has greatly subsided.
Pam said since April this year, Mangu local government area of the State have been under attack but the security approach of the OPSH Commander, brought the killings in that axis to a halt.
He said there have been so many arrests of bandits, gun runners, herdsmen, rapists and criminals terrorizing the State which has accounted for the peace being celebrated today.
“That no community in the State is still under the control of any form of criminality, insurgents is a pointer to the fact that the GOC has achieved more successes”, Pam said. https://sundiatapost.com/goc-wants-befitting-accommodation-for-troops-commission-projects/
He added that even the State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has in one of his many speeches acknowledged that the security situation in the State had improved by over 85 per cent.
“Similarly, National and State Assembly members from Plateau in many forums had said the issue of insurgents, killings in the State has greatly reduced.
“Also, another recent report from select stakeholders has confirmed a gradual restoration of peace in Riyom, Barkin-Ladi, Bassa, Mangu and other parts of the troubled Plateau”, he said.
Pam said the confirmation of victory over insurgents and criminals in the State is a testament that the sacrifices of Gen. Abubakar has yielded great results.
He also attributed the good news to the dedication of troops and officers under the command of the GOC.
“We expressed joy on the gradual restoration of peace in the State and we expressed confidence that with the still ongoing military operations, the people of Plateau will soon experience total peace.
“We urged the Nigerian media to spread messages of hope, while building the confidence of troops engaged in operations across the country.
“At this time, patriotism is needed to make the victory of our troops over the insurgents total,” Pam said.
