OSUN- Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended the concerted efforts of development partners in the state in ensuring the growth and development of some communities across Osun.
Mr Adeleke gave the commendation on the sidelines of the 2023 Community Development Day Celebration at the Osogbo township stadium.
The governor said community development bothered on empowerment that should be homegrown with the active participation of stakeholders.
“When community members agree to take collective actions on issues that are important to their lives, then they are capable of using local resources to solve local challenges,” said Mr Adeleke.
He said the present administration under his leadership had chosen to take on community development with full responsibility, adding that some communities were now better than they were before.
“I am happy to say that this administration is reaching, touching, and transforming communities just within the span of one year in office,” said the Osun governor.
Mr Adeleke added, “I want to charge all development partners to continue to support this government by seeing development as a collective responsibility in taking the state to its place of pride.”
According to him, the Osun government appreciates the World Bank through the task team leader, Foluso Okunmadewa, for supporting the state.
“I equally thank the national coordinating unit of Nigeria CARES under the leadership of Dr Abdulkarim Obaje. God will continue to support them all,” he stated.
Earlier, Funmi Abokede, the managing director of the Osun State Community and Social Development Agency, said the governor had been walking his talk by fulfilling all his promises to Osun citizens.
Ms Abokede, who highlighted some achievements of the present administration under Mr Adeleke, commended the governor for taking concrete actions to respond to the yearnings of the vulnerable in Osun.
She praised the governor for showing interest in improving the citizens’ quality of life through infrastructure development as one of his developmental agendas.
The Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Ganiyu Ola-Oluwa, said the governor had greatly reduced the hardship of Osun citizens.
Ms Ola-Oluwa added that the present administration had embarked on projects that could positively impact the lives of citizens in the state.
He commended the Osun CSDA for its efforts in communities across the state with evidence to showcase. (NAN)
