Lafia – Gov. Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Tuesday donated N200,000 for the treatment of accident victims along Akwanga-Lafia highway.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor, who was returning from Abuja, stopped at the scene of an accident involving a J5 vehicle which had a burst tyre after Nasarawa Eggon, about 23 kilometres from Lafia.
Al-Makura directed a vehicle on his motorcade to convey the five injured victims to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, for the treatment.
“I want to advise motorists to drive with caution while on the highway as well as desist from using bad tyres, especially the fairly used tyres,’’ he said.
He also urged motorists to shun all unsafe practices such as over speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, over loading as well as use of mobile phone while driving.
Al-Makura, who prayed for speedy recovery of the five victims who are occupants of the vehicle, directed one of his aides to accompany them for immediate attention. (NAN)
