Jos – Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has approved the appointment of Retired Maj.-Gen. Steven Gu’ar, as the Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, the state-owned security outfit.
Notice of the appointment is contained in a statement signed by the state’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr Emmanuel Nanle, made available in Jos on Tuesday.
The statement quoted Nanle as saying the appointment took effect from Jan. 4, 2016.
He said Gu’ar was a member of the 11th Regular Combatant Course and commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1974.
He noted that “Gu’ar is a Fellow of the War College and until his retirement from active military service in 2007, had held several military field operation command positions.
“The last of which was the Force Commander, Joint Task Force-Operation Harmony in the Bakassi Peninsula.
“The new coordinator is expected to bring his wealth of experience in field operations and peace building to bear in consolidating on security and peace building efforts in Plateau State.’’
Nanle quoted Gov. Lalong as appreciating Retired AVM Bala Danbaba, the immediate past Coordinator, for his selfless and professional service to the state.

He wished him well in his future endeavours, while assuring him that his wealth of experience would still be relied upon as duty calls. (NAN)
