Jos- Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau on Thursday in Jos commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their efforts in the fight against insurgency in the country.
Lalong made the commendation when the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of Nigerian Amy Jos, Maj.-Gen. Fatai Ali, visited him in his office.
The governor said that the armed forces has done very well so far in fighting terrorism and curbing other forms of crises facing the country, including Plateau .
“Within the short time I have stayed in office, I have seen the efforts of armed forces particularly the Special Task Force (STF) in ensuring that we have peace.
“It is unfortunate that after several years of democracy, this period would have been a period of progress but our concentration is back on security.
“But we know that we have an armed force that is capable and with the support of governors and the work you are doing; we believe that the challenges will soon be a thing of the past.
“We remain grateful for what the military is doing on the Plateau and we will continue to support you as you are doing your patriotic jobs,’’ the governor pledged.
Lalong who expressed confidence in the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari to deal with the insurgency, said that the state government would not rest until Plateau regains its status as the home of peace and tourism.
Ali, in his remarks, assured the governor of their (military) continued commitment and dedication to the security of Plateau and Nigeria.
