ASABA- Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has solicited the cooperation of traditional rulers to ensure adequate peace and security of lives and property in the state.
Gov. Okowa said this on Thursday at the presentation of staff of office to the Okpara-Uku of Utuoku Kingdom, HRH Joseph Ugbarugba, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area.
He said that his government would not fold its arms and allow kidnappers, armed robbers and other miscreants unleash mayhem in the state.
Represented by his deputy, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, Okowa expressed government’s appreciation to traditional rulers for their remarkable support and cooperation for his administration.
He assured that royal fathers would always be included in the scheme of things, in view of their vast background, experience, training, and exposure.
“Their virtues contributed to the maintenance of peace and harmonious co-existence in the state.
“The sons and daughters of Utuoku Kingdom, who are known for abundant production of fish and crops, should take advantage of the various programs of government to improve on their production capacity.
“The community should form cooperative societies to access government loans and add value to their farm produce,” he said.
The President General of Utuoku Kingdom, Prince Okwokwo, described the royal father as a man who is focused and possessed wealth of experience, adding that such qualities made him to occupy the seat of the Okparauku.
“I must state this fact unequivocally that we the entire Utuoku Kingdom are proud of this our illustrious son as our king.
“We are soliciting for the intervention of the state government in the area of road construction to link the community to the outside world, as the only track road in the community was presently in a sorry state,” he said.
He also urged the state government to provide pipe borne water for the community.(NAN)
