Enugu – Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on Wednesday reconstituted the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) with Chief Ikeje Asogwa as chairman.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Asogwa was the immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) in the state.
Inaugurating the board, Ugwuanyi told the members to reinvent the education sector in the state for proper service delivery.
The governor said that his administration on assumption of office declared its readiness to raise the standard of education in the state by revitalising all relevant departments in the sector.
“In doing this, we have taken pains to select eminently qualified persons to fill this role in order to improve primary education in our state.
“We want you to instill a renewed sense of diligence in our pupils and drive our efforts to provide quality infrastructure in the state,” he said.
Ugwuanyi appealed to members of the board to provide an enabling environment necessary for the realisation of the potentials of the school children.
Asogwa who responded said that they were delighted to be appointed in such positions of authority, adding that the board would deliver within the shortest possible time
Other members of the board include Mr David Ajah, Dr Sally Adukwu, Mrs Ekwutos Ngwu and Mrs Benedine Ezugwu.
The rest nominated as ex-officio members are Mr Ezeja Chukwuka, Mrs Nkeiru Ogbodo, Mr Joseph Ani and Mrs Juliet Nkem.
Mrs Rose Chiama and ENSUBEB permanent secretary will serve as the secretary of the board. (NAN)
