Awgu (Enugu State) – The Enugu State Government has warned Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) against rejecting Corps Members posted to their respective offices.
Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi gave the warning on Monday at the closing ceremony of the 2015 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Awgu.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, warned that government would henceforth view such cases with seriousness.
Ugwuanyi reminded heads of MDAs that government policy against rejection of corps members was still in force.
He assured the corps members of their safety in the state, adding that exceptional persons during the service year would be rewarded.
The governor advised them to promote unity and integration among the diverse ethnicities which was the major objectives of the scheme.
Ugwuanyi also assured the corps members that his administration had adopted the policy of engaging a greater percentage of them in the education sector with a view to boosting the sector.
He, however, implored them to accept their postings in good faith and regard it as a call to duty in the service of their fatherland.
According to him, the state government will continue to provide an enabling environment for them to discharge their responsibilities.
Earlier, the NYSC Director in the state, Mrs Nwano Ukagha, urged the corps members to allow their conduct to dictate their affairs throughout their service year and beyond.
Ukagha said the NYSC and the state government had placed mechanisms for rewarding those of them who distinguished themselves during the service year.
She also urged them to utilise the skills acquisition training given to them during the orientation to adequately prepare them for self employment during and after the service year.
