ABUJA – Mr Efosa Idemudia, Group Managing Director, Dataformatics Group, has said that government cannot solve Nigeria’s problems alone but Nigerians need to be enterprising to bridge the unemployment gap.
Idemudia stated this at the maiden Gidi-Business Clinic – The Entrepreneur’s Hub- themed: Networking in High Heels, organised by Gidigba Social Networking, in collaboration with Abuja Enterprise Agency [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″](AEA) on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said though the Federal Government was doing its best in terms of job creation, there was the need for Nigerians to be enterprising by striving to become self-reliant.
According to him, there was also the need to have a reliable platform that would enable Nigeria’s entrepreneurs to integrate with organised local communities.
“This will create direct access to market, skills, opportunities, resources, partnerships, influencers, mentorships and outsourcing which will help them not only stay in business but thrive in business,’’ he said.
Analysing business problems, the Gidigba founder said there were six constraints that hindered the growth of business, including lack of access to the market, opportunities, infrastructure, finance, information and technology.
He said the programme was aimed at addressing the problems by providing solutions.
The Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Mrs Josephine Washima, said the Federal Government was working towards having 3 million jobs annually.
“It is not an easy job but it is achievable and Mr President is passionate about that which was the reasonable for the creation of Presidential Job Board in 2014 to assist in the job creation,’’ she said.
The Managing Director of AEA, Hajia Aisha abubakar, said the name Gidigba came from the meaning “standing strong’’.
“It is an enterprise social communication platform that features many tools common to social networking sites.
“It allows Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to set up profiles, upload photos, link videos and connect with other business peers, investors, mentors, facilitators, grant giving organisations, share documents and promote best practices.
“This is why AEA endorsed Gidigba initiative as we remain committed to platforms that would enhance, promote SMEs growth and development,’’ she said.
Alhaji Bature Masari, the Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), said the agency’s role included breeding, training, supporting and facilitating funding of the SMEs.
The Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr Peter Jack, who was represented by Mr John Chime of the agency, said NITDA was ready to reduce poverty and unemployment through ICT.
He said in the next few weeks the agency planned to support and guarantee some ICT entrepreneurs to access loan from the Bank Of Industry.(NAN)
