Bujumbura – Burundian police said on Thursday in Bujumbura that grenade explosion left 26 people injured in the capital.
Police spokesman, Pierre Nkurikiye, said that an attacker threw the grenade from a motorcycle in the central neighbourhood of Buyenzi.
He said that nine of the victims were in serious condition.
Burundi had been gripped by political violence since President Pierre Nkurunziza announced in April that he would seek a third term in office and won election in July.

According to the UN, more than 400 people have been killed in protests, clashes and attacks, while about 240,000 people had fled the country, (dpa/NAN)
