GroundZero winner urges Nigerians to stay focused

LAGOS (Sundiata Post) – Mr Joel Ojigbani, the winner of GroundZero Reality Show, has urged Nigerians to strive for their goals and avoid distractions that can prevent them from achieving their targets.
Ojigbani said this in an interview on Friday in Lagos while elaborating on the way he won the reality show.
Ojigbani emerged as winner of GroundZero, a reality television show, where contestants are to build businesses from the scratch without capital.
The show, which was hosted by Frank Edoho, ended with a thrilling victory as contestant Joel Ojigbani hit the ₦1 million target and bagged the ₦5 million grand prize.
Ojigbani said that the show pushed his limits and boundaries, thereby making him see things differently and challenging him.
“To be honest, particularly in the show came at a perfect time for me because I was going through a break-up, so participating in the show was a beautiful distraction for me.
“What helped me in becoming the winner was that I planned properly and good preparation brought me to where I am, as I motivated myself by shutting out all forms of negativity.
“From day one, I was very relaxed and calm but that doesn’t mean that I’m saying I didn’t have my doubts because in the very beginning, I didn’t think it was possible to hit the mark, but I kept on motivating myself and shut out self doubts.
“The first steps I took in taking up the challenge were very important and crucial to my success at the end of the show,” he said.
He acknowledged that he faced several challenges and noted that approaching Nigerians could be daunting.
He also mentioned that he learnt many valuable lessons from the show and intends to use it to positively impact the society.
“When they dropped us at Ojulegba, that was the turning point and reality set in that the show has truly begun, so I swung into action but it was not easy at all.
“One major challenge I had to overcome was creating an instagram account and building up the page because I had to go into UNILAG to convince people to follow my page and we all know how challenging that can be.
“Also, another taunting challenge for me was convincing people to key into my business idea, as I had to go from one shop to another in Ikeja to talk to different set of people and this wasn’t easy at all.
“But in all of these, the valuable lesson I learnt from the show was never to ignore the little things because the little things grow into something bigger, hence my achievement today,” he said.
Ojibanu added that he had successfully launched his gym wear brand called ‘ACTIVE’, with the prize money.
He also noted that his social media presence, invitation for gigs and contents have grown significantly following his win.
He encouraged Nigerians to stay focused on their goals, emphasising that hard work and determination always pay off. (NAN)
