,ABUJA – The Total Mandate Group (TMG), Abuja Chapter, a socio political organisation, on Friday said it would work for the victory of the consensus PDP guber aspirant in Enugu state, Rep. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and ensure his administration’s success.
The group’s decision came after its October general meeting in Abuja where it also hailed Gov. Sullivan Chime for using “Solomon’s wisdom’’ to reduce the usual bickering and in-fighting that normally followed any hotly-contested primaries.
In a statement issued by the Abuja chapter Coordinator of TMG, Mr Johnkennedy Chime, and the secretary, Mr Mike Eze, the group said Enugu state would witness consolidation of democratic dividends under Ugwuanyi.
The group urged other aspirants in PDP and the Enugu electorate to rally round Gov. Chime and Ugwuanyi during the primaries and subsequent 2015 governorship polls in the state.
“We support good governance in Enugu state knowing full well how Gov. Chime has transformed the state in just eight years. [eap_ad_2] “We also support a seamless transition to another performer in Rep. Ugwuanyi.
“Nobody would have been better than this choice from the array of prospective PDP gubernatorial aspirants from Enugu North senatorial zone using the pedigree of all of them,’’ the statement said.
The group added that it looked forward to a non-sectional and all-inclusive government by the candidate “when he eventually mounts the office as exhibited by Gov. Chime in his almost eight years reign.’’
It, however, expressed hope that he, Ugwuanyi, would formulate economic policies that would raise the standard of living of the people of the state.
“TMG, Abuja will repeat what it did in 2011 by mobilising all progressive-minded citizens of Enugu State to travel home during the presidential and gubernatorial elections to vote for candidates that will ensure good governance and emancipation of citizens from poverty and majority domination.’’
It said that Enugu state enjoyed peace in the last eight years adding that only such atmosphere could engender development especially for the grassroots people.
The TMG also said it was fully behind President Goodluck Jonathan’s fight against the Boko Haram insurgency, his re-election and noted that his transformation agenda was unrivalled.
Ugwuanyi was nominated to be the consensus candidate of the PDP by party stakeholders, including aspirants from Nsukka zone where the party had zoned the governorship candidacy.
Ugwuanyi represents Udeni/Igbo-Eze North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.(NAN) [eap_ad_3]
