ABUJA – The Police on Wednesday arraigned a guard, Joshua Dashe, in a Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Wuse, Abuja, for criminal breach of trust and negligence.
Dashe, 19, who resides at Karu, was said to have abandoned his duty post for unknown persons to gain access to the office to steal.
The prosecutor, Cpl Umar Ango, told the court that on Nov. 25, Mr Matthew Obidah of Electricity Distribution Company, Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, reported the matter at Wuse Police Station.
He said that on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 the accused was on duty at their office at Wuse 2, Abuja, and that he neglected his duty post thereby paving way for unknown persons to come in and steal.
Ango also told the court that the unknown persons made away with one hard disk drive and a CD Rom valued at N45, 000.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 196 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.
The prosecutor prayed the court to grant him a date to open his case against the accused, consequent upon his plea.
The Magistrate, Mrs Folashade Oyekan, therefore admitted him to bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in like sum.
Oyekan ordered that the surety must be a person with reasonable means of livelihood and must also be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
She adjourned the matter till Jan. 29, 2015 for hearing. (NAN)
