Gunmen have abducted Danladi Sarkin Noma, Pastor of Salama Baptist Church, Zununko village, the Village Head of Ungwan Maje, Bawa Gwamna, and his son Sunday Bawa.
The two villages are in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Yohana Janukwai, the Village Head of Zununko, when contacted on Monday confirmed the incident.
He said the kidnappers called him around 11:45 a.m. on Monday and demanded for N3 million ransom for the release of the pastor.
“The kidnappers abducted three people; the pastor from Zununko village, the Village Head of Ungwan Maje, Bawa Gwamna, and his son, Sunday Bawa.
“We are waiting for their second call to know what they will say. We do not have anything on ground now.
“We do not also know their ransom demand for the release of the Village Head of Ungwan Maje and his son, Mr Janunkwai,” the Village Head of Zununko said.
The pastor’s wife, Mrs Jummai Sarkin Noma, a mother of four children, said the gunmen stormed their residence around 11pm on Sunday and picked him.
She said: “Yes, the kidnappers, who were seven in number, stormed our house and picked my husband at gun point around 11pm yester-night (Sunday) and said we will hear from them.
“I was with him when they broke into our house. It was only our house that was targeted in the village.
“They (the kidnappers) contacted the village head today and made N3 million ransom demand.
“Where can we raise such money? His allowance in the church is N10,000 monthly with four children to take care of. Sometime he is even paid less than that.
“We are calling on government to come to our aid. This is our fourth year in this village where my husband is posted to serve God.
“As I speak to you now, members of the church and the village head are currently holding a meeting to see what they can do.”
“Please, government should please, in the name of God, come to our rescue. We are poor and do not have anything to pay for ransom,” the pastor’s wife said, crying.
The village head and some elders of the church could not be reached as at the time of filling this report. They were said to be holding a meeting.
The pastor’s son Nuhu Danladi Sarkin Noma, a soldier serving at Amour Barracks, Bauchi, when contacted said his father was abducted while it was raining.
“We are making arrangement to move the rest of the family to Kamazo,” he said.
Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, could not be reached and was yet to responded to text message sent to his number as at the time of filling this report.
Also, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kaduna State Police Command, when contacted on phone promised to make findings.
