Gunmen on Wednesday allegedly ambushed and killed four persons in Ulevkyaa village of Guma local Government area in Benue State.
Guma local Government is the country home of Governor Samuel Ortom and had been under herdsmen attack since January, 2018.
Narrating how the unfortunate incident happened, Media Aide to Ortom, Hon.James Igbudu told The Nation he was travelling to the village in company of his colleagues when suspected herdsmen laid ambushed and shot at their vehicles.
Igbudu, who has declared his intention to contest Makurdi/Guma House of Representatives seat, said they opened fire at Ulevikyaa village but escaped unhurt.
“As my driver manoeuvred to escape the herdsmen attack , they opened fire on another vehicle ,a Toyota Picnic, and killed a 3 month-old baby who was shot in the chest,” he claimed.
He said a man by name Terver from Uvir with his wife was also shot and killed while another called Solomon Kumaiin was butchered at the same spot.
Those killed according to Igbudu were were taken the mortuary in Daudu while others who sustained injuries were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police spokesperson could not be reached for confirmation as his phone was switched off as at press time.
