Abuja – The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has commiserated with the family, friends and political associates of the late Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo (retired).
The minister expressed his condolences in a statement issued by Mrs Boade Akinola, the Director Media and Public Relations of the ministry, which was made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.
Adewole described the death of late Adebayo as shocking, adding that the deceased was a committed nationalist whose immense wisdom and wealth of experience will be missed.
He recalled the tenure of late Adebayo as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the governing council of University of Ibadan, describing him as a disciplinarian and an astute administrator.
According to Adewole, late Adebayo distinguished himself in service as a Military Officer and Governor of the old Western State between August 1966 and April 1971.
Adewole also noted that the late general was a committed father, a true patriot and a staunch advocate of the un-negotiable unity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The News agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Adebayo died on the eve of his 89th birthday on March 8.
