LAGOS – Promise Nwachukwu, the Team Manager of Heartland FC of Owerri, on Wednesday said the club was undergoing strategic improvement toward better result in second stanza of the Globacom Premier League.
Nwachukwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone in Lagos that the club aimed at picking one of the continental tickets at the end of the season.
He said the coaches were in the process of signing-on new players who would be used to fortify the squad.
“In the first stanza, we did not end up badly on the table but are as well not satisfied with our total performance.
“Everyone knows the second phase would be tougher and we are doing our best to be ready for it,” Nwachukwu said.[eap_ad_2]
He added that club was currently negotiating with agents and clubs where the players were currently playing.
Nwachukwu said the club was considering signing nine new players for the second stanza.
“This time we have done some thorough searching and I’m happy we got some good players in our net.
“If negotiations are through, we’ll be bringing in about nine new quality players. With this I don’t see why we can’t contest effectively in the second stanza,” he said.
NAN reports that Heartland are currently occupying the 10th position on the Globacom Premier League with 27 points from 19 games.
The team won six matches, drew nine and lost four in the first phase of the season.
Heartland’s first match on resumption of the league on July 20 would be away to Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
