I never expected that love can have such magnificent force. Neither did I imagine that love can thrive unend in spite of absence from a loved one. But love seems more potent than the law of gravity. It brought back my forgotten longing and made my heart beat even faster.
As Chigozie walked away from the school which brought back deep feelings of nostalgia, he couldn’t shake off the feeling that he was getting close to the truth. The lecturer’s words kept echoing in his mind: “The person you’re looking for… might be closer than you think.”
He tried to make sense of the lecturer’s cryptic message, but his mind was a jumble of emotions. He felt like he was on the verge of a breakthrough, but he wasn’t sure what that breakthrough would be.
As he walked, Chigozie’s thoughts turned to me. He wondered what I was doing at that moment, whether I was happy, and whether I ever thought of him.
He felt a pang of sadness as he realized that he had no idea what my life was like now. Had I moved on? Was I in a relationship? The thought of not knowing the right answer was almost unbearable.
Chigozie’s walk took him to the park where we used to sit and talk for hours. He sat down on a bench, taking in the familiar sights and sounds. As he sat there, he felt a sense of nostalgia wash over him. He remembered the laughter, the tears, and the countless moments we shared in that very park. His eyes closed, he let the memories wash over him.
He remembered the way I used to smile, the way my eyes sparkled in the sunlight. He remembered the way I used to make him feel, like he was the only man in the world. He felt a pang of longing, wishing that he could turn back the clock and relive those moments.
But as the memories faded, Chigozie was left with the harsh reality of his situation. He had no idea where I was or what I was doing. He had no idea if I still felt the same way about him. The uncertainty was suffocating, making it hard for him to breathe.
Then, loverboy’s eyes snapped open, and he stood up, determination etched on his face. He would find me, no matter what it took.
He would leave no stone unturned, no path unexplored. He would find me, and he would make me listen. Chigozie’s heart pounded in his chest as he walked out of the park. He felt like he was on a mission, driven by a singular focus. He would find me, and he would make things right. The question was, where would he start?.
As the days went by, Chigozie’s anxiety grew. He had been searching for me everywhere, but to no avail. The two weeks his parents had given him were running out fast, and he was starting to lose hope.
He had tried everything he could think of, from visiting our old haunts to asking around town, but no one seemed to know where I was. He was starting to feel like he was running out of options. He had even considered giving up and accepting his parents’ offer, but something inside him refused to let go.
Meanwhile, I was living my life, oblivious to loverboy’s desperate search for me. I had moved on with my life, focusing on my studies and my career.
Little did he know, Chigozie’s search for me was about to come to an end. The lecturer who spoke to Chigozie earlier reached out to one of my course mates, a girl named Nneoma.
Nneoma was a mutual friend of ours, and she had always been close to both Chigozie and I. She had been keeping tabs on Chigozie’s search for me. And she knew exactly how to reach me.
“Nneoma, I need to talk to you about something,” the lecturer said, his voice low and serious. “What is it, sir?” Nneoma asked, her curiosity piqued. It’s about Chigozie,” the lecturer said. “He’s been looking for his old girlfriend, and I think I know who she is.”
Nneoma’s eyes widened in surprise. “You mean…?” she started to ask. The lecturer nodded. “Yes, I think Chigozie is looking for your friend.”
But, her expression changed from surprise to concern. She knew how much Chigozie had loved me, and she knew how much I loved him in return.
“What should I do?” Nneoma asked the lecturer. The lecturer thought for a moment before responding. “I think you should tell your friend that Chigozie is looking for her. But you should also warn her that Chigozie’s parents are not happy about their relationship.”
Nneoma nodded, taking mental notes. She knew that this was a sensitive situation, and she wanted to handle it with care. As soon as Nneoma left the lecturer’s office, she pulled out her phone and dialed my number. I answered on the first ring. “Hey, girl,” Nneoma said, her voice cheerful. “I need to talk to you about something.” “What is it?” I asked, my curiosity piqued.
Nneoma took a deep breath before responding. “Chigozie is looking for you.” My heart skipped a beat as I processed Nneoma’s words.
Chigozie was looking for me? After all these years? I felt a mix of emotions: surprise, curiosity, and a hint of fear. “What’s going on?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. She hesitated before responding.
“I’m not entirely sure, but I think his parents are still pressuring him to move on with his life. They’re not happy about his relationship with you.” I felt a pang of sadness as I realized that Chigozie’s parents still didn’t approve of me. But I also felt a spark of hope.
Maybe, just maybe, Chigozie was looking for me because he still had feelings for me. “What should I do?” I asked, seeking Nneoma’s advice. She thought for a moment before responding. “I think you should talk to Chigozie. Hear him out and see what he has to say.”
I nodded, even though Nneoma couldn’t see me. I knew that she was right. I needed to talk to him and see what he wanted. But as I hung up the phone, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that my life was about to change in ways I couldn’t even imagine.
As I stood at the crossroads of fate, my heart trembled with anticipation. The love of my life, Chigozie, was searching for me. His determination fueled by a flame that had never flickered. Yet, the shadows of his parents’ disapproval loomed large, threatening to extinguish the very spark that had brought us together.
Interestingly my soul was a maelstrom of emotions, a turbulent sea of hope and fear. I longed to be reunited with Chigozie, to feel his warm touch and gaze into his loving eyes. But the specter of rejection and heartache hung over me like a dark cloud, casting a shadow on the fragile hope that had begun to bloom.
Yet, I knew that I had to take a step forward, into the unknown. For love, like a rose, is a fragile and fleeting thing, and I could not let it wither and die without a fight. So I steeled myself, took a deep breath, and began to walk towards the destiny that awaited me, my heart pounding with anticipation and fear.
Definitely, matters were about getting more interesting. There’s more to offload about this unfolding tale. Keep a date with me.
