Johannesburg – Nigeria`s Consul General in South Africa, Mr Godwin Adama said on Thursday that Nigeria`s food, music, and attires had been a source of admiration from different countries.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the celebration of South Africa`s Heritage Day in Johannesburg, that the country`s stand attracted huge interest from members of the diplomatic community and citizens of other countries.
Heritage Day is a South African public holiday celebrated on September 24 every year.
On this day, South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to its entire people.
The event was organised by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Radio 2000, Johannesburg.
Adama said that participants made inquiries on Nigerian foods, music, and attires.
“ The designs in the attires were beautiful while the foods were tasty and delicious,” he said.
Adama said that the event was also used as a platform to send a message of unity and discourage xenophobia.
