Badagry (Lagos State) – The Federal Government will ensure that the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo in Badagry, is transformed to a global management institution.
Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, the Head of Service (HOS) of the Civil Service of the Federation, said this on Monday while addressing the staff of the college at its auditorium.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the HOS who was on a two-day working visit to the college also promised to ensure that ASCON enters into partnership with international organisations to boost its image.
“My visit to the college has been very enlightening and I have been impressed with what I have seen on ground.
“What really impressed me most was despite the various challenges on ground; the college has been able to manage itself well.
“I want to assure you all that under my watch, ASCON will be transformed into a global management institution.
“ It will partner with various international organisations which will boost its good image.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“We will make sure that foreigners will be sent here for various trainings and researches due to the quality of training we have to offer.’’
She, however, called for the cooperation of the members of staff of the college toward the Federal Government’s efforts aimed at repositioning the institution.
“In making all these possible, I need the cooperation of everyone so as to ensure that the college gets to greater heights,’’ Oyo-Ita said.
The HOS also promised to make the civil service productive and incorruptible.
“We will ensure that the civil service is efficient, productive, workers’ centred and incorruptible.
“By doing all these, the civil service will be expected to work in unity and these will transform to greater input from its workers,’’ she said.
Oyo-Ita tasked the workers of the college to give priority to their state of health.
She advised them to check their blood pressure regularly to avoid any form of mishap.
Earlier, Mr Aaron Ajibade-Peters, the Director-General of ASCON, urged various organisations to always send their staff to the college for training and retraining.
He, on behalf of ASCON, expressed gratitude to the HOS for her efforts toward repositioning the college. (NAN)
